Habitat for Humanity

THE HOME

A house is built of bricks and stones
Of sills and posts and piers,
but a home is built of loving deeds,
That stand a thousand years.

                 Victor Hugo, 1802-1885

For the past 9 years, Miami-Dade Justice Association has supported Habitat for Humanity building homes and futures for members of our community. Miami-Dade Justice Association members, many of whom have no experience with wood beyond sharpening a pencil, have put up walls & sheet rock, applied roofs, painted houses, framed interiors, and installed baseboards, landscaped and laid sod, hung doors and cut open windows. DCLTA members have engaged in virtually all aspects of home building, under the guidance of Habitat supervisors. While the work at times can be hard, the rewards are great!  The aches all seem to fade when the 7 year-old, whose home you are helping to build, brings you a cool lemonade, with a smile, and a thanks.
